Samsung deals with Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) maker for future foldables

Samsung was able to sell over half a milion units of the Galaxy Fold. The whole idea of foldable smartphone is still new. But Samsung wants to step up their game as they aim to sell over 6 million foldable devices next year.

Samsung seems well prepared to pump up their production and to meet up with the target. To do so, they struc up a deal with Dowoo Insis for Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), which will be used in future foldable phones. This is an exclusive deal, which means only Samsung will clear up all units of Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) from the Korean firm.

Adding a glass screen rather than a plastic one would increase the durability of the device. The screens would be more scratch resistant.

This deal is a mid to long term deal and Samsung is reported to have funded the display maker with 12 Billion KRW investment.
